The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 59th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during November 2018 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2015 Census.
The most prominent change in this issue is the rise in total number of marriage contracts at a monthly rate of 12.2%, which is offset by a drop in total number of divorce certificates by a rate of 1.0% (for October 2018). In addition, the value of shares traded increased at an annual rate of 31.2%, which led to a rise of the Qatar Stock Exchange (point) by 34.4%.compared to November 2017.
The demographic statistics showed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.68 million during November 2017 to 2.76 million at end of November 2018, an annual increase of 2.8%.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2140 live births has been registered during November 2018, a 7.4% decrease compared to October 2018. A decrease in the total Qatari live births by 22.4% compared to last month. On the other hand, 203 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 8.0% compared to October 2018.
Moreover, November 2018 has experienced an increase in marriage contracts while a decrease in divorce certificates compared to October 2018. The total number of marriage contracts was 330 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 96 divorce cases; namely, one divorce for every 3 marriages.
Social Security statements, reached 83.816 thousand Qatari Riyals in November 2018, for 15285 beneficiaries.
Total electricity consumption during November 2018 was 2495.6 GWh attaining a monthly decrease of 29.0% and an annual drop of 16.7%. While the total water consumption has reached 34776.4 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly decrease of 7.1% and an annual drop of 16.8%.
The data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 679 permits during November 2018, recording a monthly decrease of 14.6%.
Traffic accidents cases, a total of 537 traffic cases were recorded during November 2018, showing a monthly increase of 4.3%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents during the same month, with 88%, followed by severe injuries by 9%. However, 18 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 3% of total traffic accidents.
The total number of registered new vehicles during November 2018 has reached 5495 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly decrease of 13.3% and an annual decrease of 15.7%.
For Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 562.5 Billion Qatari Riyals during November 2018, an annual decrease of 4.6% compared with November 2017. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 794.1 Billion Qatari Riyals during November 2018. The figure has recorded an annual decrease of 1.0% compared to November 2017, when deposits recorded approximately 802.3 Billion Qatari Riyals.
