- A monthly increase in the total live births by 3.7% during May 2024 compared to the previous month.
- A monthly rise of 21.1% in the total number of ships arriving at Qatar Ports compared to April 2024.

The National Planning Council has released the 125th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during May 2024 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 Census.
One of the most notable changes in this issue is the increase in the total number of new driver's licenses at a monthly rate of 63.7%, while the total number of new vehicles registered increased by 27.0% (compared to April 2024). Further, this month witnessed an increase in total traffic violations by a monthly rate of 4.5% (compared to April 2024), while the total traffic accident cases dropped by 1.3% (compared to April 2024).
The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has increase from 3.002 million at May 2023 to 3.081 million at May 2024 at an annual increase rate of change of 2.6%, and decreased monthly by 0.6% (compared to April 2024).
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2589 live births have been registered during May 2024. Also, a decrease in the total Qatari live births by 3.1% comparing to last month. On the other hand, 229 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 3.6% compared to April 2024.
Moreover, May 2024 witnessed a monthly increase of 23.8% & 55.0% of total marriage contracts and total divorce certificates. The total number of marriage contracts reached 406 marriage contracts, while the total number of divorce certificates reached 186 cases.
As for the Social Security statements, reached 78 Million Qatari Riyals in May 2024, for 14378 beneficiaries, Recording a monthly decrease of 0.3% for the value of social security and a monthly decrease of 0.2% for the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.
As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 740 Billion Qatari Riyals during May 2024, an annual increase of 5.9% compared with May 2023. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 1032 Billion Qatari Riyals during May 2024. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 8.1% compared to May 2023, when deposits recorded approximately 955 Billion Qatari Riyals.
Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 782 permits during May 2024, recording a monthly increase of 67.8% and an annual increase of 3.2%.
The total number of registered new vehicles during May 2024 has reached 8903 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 27.0% and it showed an annual increase of 8.4%.
Traffic accidents cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 752 traffic cases were recorded during May 2024, showing a monthly decrease of 1.3% and an annual increase by 6.8%. Light injuries are accounted for most traffic accidents cases during the same month, with 94%, followed by severe injuries by 4%. However, 17 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2% of total traffic accidents cases.
As for tourism, the total number of inbound visitors reached about 314 thousand, recording a monthly decrease of 18.0% (compared to April 2024) and recorded an annual increase of 9.9% (compared to May 2023). The highest number of visitors was from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) at 40%. As for visitors by type of port, the visitors via Air make up the highest percentage with 64% of the total number of visitors.
