The Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics has released the 44thedition of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics- Statistics of August 2017). It is a Monthly publication that embodies main statistical indicators and updates pertaining to The State of Qatar in a specific Month. This edition comprises detailed indicatorsas per different statistical issues recorded during August2017, in addition tohighlights from 2015 Census results.
In this edition it is shown that 162vessels had harbored at Hamad Port loaded with a total of 1,296 Thousand Tons during August 2017. The figure has registered a sharp annual increase of 47.3% as compared to last year. In this bulletin it is also indicated that about 602 vessels had harbored at all Qatar Ports during the period (August 2017).
The demographic statistics showedthat the populationof Qatar population has increased from 2.40 million in August 2016 to more than 2.44million at end of August 2017, yielding an annual growth rate of 1.9%
In regard with Vital Statistics, a total number of 2,189live births has been registered in August 2017, on the other hand, 184 deathswere recorded during the same period.
On another aspect, the total number of registered marriages was 374in August 2017, whereas the total no of divorceswas 109.
This edition highlighted significant increase in number of Beneficiaries of Social Security benefits as it has reached 14,163 during August 2017, whereas the total value of Social Security benefits was about 82.7 Million Qatari Riyal during August 2017.
In regard to electricity and water consumption rate, the bulletin showed that the total electricity utilization value during August 2017 was 4,641.4 GWh attaining a monthly increase of 2.6% as compared with last month.The bulletin also showed that the total value of water consumption has reached 45,421.4 Thousand m3 during the same month i.e. a monthly increaseof0.3%.
As for the building permit’s information, the bulletin showedthattheir total number has reached 719 permits during August 2017, and thus recorded a monthly increase of 14.3% in as compared to July 2017.
In regard totraffic cases, atotal of450traffic cases were recorded during August 2017, showing in a monthly decrease of -0.2% in comparison with the previous - month July 2017 where it reached only451traffic cases. At the same instance, 12 death cases were recorded during August 2017.
The bulletin also highlighted that the total number of registered vehicles has reached 5,420 new vehicles during August 2017. The figure has registered a monthly increase of 41.2% compared to last July 2017, where the total number of registered vehicleswas 3,839new vehicles.
Total broad money supply (M2) recorded about 559 Billion Qatari Riyals during the month of August 2017 showing an annual increaseof 14.4% compared withAugust 2016 from last year. On the other hand, cash equivalents(including deposits)attained for 793.6 Billion Qatari Riyal during August 2017. The figure has recorded anannualincrease of20% in comparison with August2016 from last year, as it recorded approximately 661.6Billion Qatari Riyals.
