DOHA: The  Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) celebrated Qatar Statistics Day on Monday, December 29th 2014. The celebration ceremony was attended by His Excellency Dr. Saleh bin Mohammed Al-Nabit, Minister of Development Planning and Statistics, Mr. Saber Al-Harbi, Director General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Statistics Center (GCC-Stat)  and coordinators representing various local agencies.  The celebration  - which was organised at Katara hall - aims  to  enhance public awareness of the importance of statistics in our daily life in general, and its significance to all government agencies, in particular, to ensure effective implementation of Qatar’s National Development Strategy 2011 - 2016, towards achieving the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV2030). During the event, senior officials at MDPS highlighted the results  of the Joint cooperation  between  the Ministry and other agencies including;  the network connection among the stakeholders, the  vital role of statistics in supporting the national development, and the importance of connecting statistics to future plans in Qatar.    During the event, the MDPS honoured several government agencies and stakeholders in recognition of their contribution to the network connection, as well as media representatives for their role in raising public awareness and press coverage.
