Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics (MDPS) has recently issued its latest publication “Annual Statistics Bulletin”, in collaboration with Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC). The publication includes special chapter on sport statistics. This section is considered among the major statistics issued by MDPS. The tables contained in this chapter include statistics on sports activities and available facilities. The chapter includes statistical data on coaches, referees and players in all types of sports as well as tournaments hosted in Qatar or abroad in 2013/2014 sport season. The statistics show that the number of sports facilities in Qatar reached 320 and the total number of administrators accredited by sport federations is 318 (62% Qataris) while the number of Coaches and assistant Coaches is 1148 (45% Qataris). The number of players registered in various Qatari federations reached 21343 (including 91% males) , while the number of players with special needs registered at Qatar Federation for Special Needs Sports reached 105 players (32% females). The data included in sports statistics show that 924 tournaments were held in 2013, including indoor and outdoor championships in different types of sports/age groups. As for the monthly average of physical activities carried out at the Neighborhood Football Court (Al Furjan), the statistics disclose that 1269 male and female players were involved in different types of sports in 2013.
