The Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics (MDPS) has released the Machinery & Equipment Price Index (MEPI) for the Second Half / 2016, Which reached 101.3 points, that decrease compared to the First half of the year 2016 with 0.09 % , decrease with 0.88 % when compared with the counterpart of the previous year 2015. The MEPI is one the economic indicators produced by the Ministry. This indicator calculated as semi - annual , With Base Year 2012.
A comparison of the Second Half, 2016 with that of the First Half , 2016 :
An analysis [on H-o-H basis] of MEPI [Second half, 2016 against First half, 2016 changes ] shows that three of the main groups were decreased namely: "Special-purpose machines" group by 0.49 % , because of the price decrease in the Underground rock cutters and tunneling machinery , decrease recorded in "Transport equipment" group by 0.49 % , because of the dropping in Motor vehicles and trailer vehicles , Slight decline in "Machinery and electrical appliances" group by 0.09 %.
An increase recorded in "Office, Accounting and Computing machinery" by 0.59 % .

A comparison of the MEPI of Second Half, 2016 with the Second half, 2015, noticed that MEPI decrease by 0.88 % affected by price were decreased namely : "Special-purpose machines" grouped by 1.64 % , "Transport equipment" grouped by 1.26 % , slightly decreased in "Office, Accounting and Computing machinery" group by 0.29 % and "Machinery and electrical appliances" group by 0.19 % .
