The Planning and Statistics Authority has released the 66th issue of (Qatar; Monthly Statistics) bulletin; a series of statistical newsletters released on a monthly basis. In this issue, we highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during June 2019 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2015 Census.
The most significant change in this Issue is the increase in the total number of vessels arriving at Qatar ports and the total net tonnage at an annual rate of 11.9% and 125.1%, respectively compared to June 2018. This month also witnessed a rise in total electricity generated and total water production at a monthly rate of 15.9% and 2.0%, respectively compared to May 2019.
The demographic statistics showed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.58 million during June 2018 to 2.64 million at end of June 2019, an annual increase of 2.2%.
Regarding to Vital Statistics, 2143 live births has been registered during June 2019, a 2.5% decrease compared to May 2019. An increase in the total Qatari live births by 0.2% compared to last month. On the other hand, 180 deaths were recorded during the same period, a decrease of 5.8% compared to May 2019.
Moreover, June 2019 has experienced an increase in marriage contracts and divorce certificates. The total number of marriage contracts was 305 contracts, whereas the total No. of divorces has reached 57 divorce cases; namely, one divorce for every 5 marriages.
Social Security statements, reached 88.284 thousand Qatari Riyals in June 2019, for 15720 beneficiaries.
Total electricity consumption during June 2019 was 4907.2 GWh attaining a monthly increase of 16.6% and an annual rise of 27.6%. While the total water consumption has reached 56850.8 Thousand m3 during the same month attaining a monthly increase of 2.4% and an annual rise of 49.2%.
The data of buildings permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 463 permits during June 2019, recording a monthly decrease of 29.7%.
Traffic accidents cases, a total of 584 traffic cases were recorded during June 2019, showing a monthly increase of 7.9%. Light injuries are accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents during the same month, with 86%, followed by severe injuries by 12%. However, 10 deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2% of total traffic accidents.
The total number of registered new vehicles during June 2019 has reached 4103 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly decrease of 27.6% and an annual increase of 4.9%.
For Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about 559.0 Billion Qatari Riyals during June 2019, an annual decrease of 4.6% compared with June 2018. On the other hand, cash equivalents; including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained for 825.7 Billion Qatari Riyals during June 2019. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 0.9% compared to June 2018, when deposits recorded approximately 818.3 Billion Qatari Riyals.
