Responsibilities & Functions

1. Participate in developing and updating Qatar National Vision and national environmental development strategies and plans.
2. Review strategic plans prepared by the competent entity regarding environmental development, including risk and threat management plans for each entity’s strategic plan, and verify their alignment with the National Development Strategy.
3. Provide technical support to entities in preparing environmental development strategies and derivative plans, defining stakeholder roles and responsibilities according to approved governance frameworks.
4. Review implementation plans related to environmental development strategy projects, in coordination with relevant entities and after consulting the private sector and related civil society organizations.
5. Study and review strategic and implementation plans prepared by government entities related to environmental development and initiatives, and complete approval procedures in coordination with the concerned entities.
6. Provide opinions on proposed budgets for environmental development plans to ensure alignment with targeted strategic priorities, and submit recommendations in coordination with relevant administrative units and competent authorities.
7. Coordinate with the competent administrative unit on drafting and periodically updating environmental development policies in line with national directions and Qatar National Vision.
8. Coordinate with administrative units and competent entities in preparing environmental development indicators, sustainable development indicators, and other related indicators.
9. Coordinate with administrative units and competent entities in preparing environmental development data and indicators and readying them for publication.
10. Study results of implementing environmental development strategies and take necessary actions in coordination with relevant administrative units and entities.
11. Review proposals for replanning environmental development sectors based on analytical studies of implementation follow-up and delays in achieving intended results, and provide appropriate recommendations in coordination with relevant units and entities.
