Statistics are a cornerstone of planning and decision-making across all sectors of the State. This guide helps standardize the statistical and economic terms and concepts used by regional and international organizations, institutions, and expert bodies. It provides a comprehensive reference for definitions, concepts, and terminology, benefiting researchers, specialists, academics, and decision-makers.

This guide is based on the Unified Guide to Statistical Definitions, Concepts, and Terms for the GCC States. The National Planning Council has updated selected concepts and added new ones. It is intended to strengthen transparency in statistical work and promote statistical awareness among all users of statistical data, information, and indicators. The Council will continue to develop and update the guide as needed.
