Overview

Regional, Arab and international partnerships

The Permanent Population Committee has established institutional partnerships with several regional, Arab, and international entities, foremost among them:

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

GCC Population Policy Committee

which is supervised by the General Secretariat of the GCC

Department of Population and Migration Policies

affiliated with the League of Arab States

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

on whose Executive Board the State of Qatar was represented by the Permanent Population Committee during its first regular session, held from 11 to 22 January 2010. At that time, the State of Qatar was elected to the 36-member board for a thre

The Arab Council for Population and Development, operating under the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States

which the State of Qatar contributed to establishing together with other Arab countries. The Permanent Population Committee is also a member of the Council’s Advisory Committee of Experts.

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA)

particularly through cooperation related to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators.

with which PPC has undertaken numerous joint initiatives and events, including the workshop “Fundamentals of Migrant Labour Management: Opportunities and Challenges in the Arab Gulf States,” organized by the Committee on 2 April 2018.
