Qatar Population

The Permanent Population Committee is a national body mandated to align population requirements with sustainable development, guided by the principles of Islamic Sharia, the values of Qatari society, the Constitution, the State’s political orientations, and Qatar National Vision 2030. Its work is also aligned with the Millennium Development Goals in the State of Qatar, the GCC Population Strategy, and other relevant regional and international frameworks. The Committee is responsible for developing the institutional framework necessary to coordinate activities related to the formulation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and updating of national population policies and programs. It also updates the material, media, and information-related measures required to integrate population issues, public health, reproductive health, gender, and the requirements of balanced social and economic development with the needs and growing aspirations of the population, in accordance with cultural standards and human rights principles.

Population policy

Population policy defines the principles, objectives, and policies adopted by the State in relation to population-related issues, with a view to influencing demographic trends and characteristics. This includes population growth and its key components, such as fertility, births, mortality, geographical distribution, migration, and population composition, including a youthful population structure or an increasing proportion of older people, as well as broader issues related to health and education.

Serving as a comprehensive umbrella, the Population Policy encompasses all programs, activities, and initiatives that directly or indirectly influence demographic variables. The policy is firmly rooted in foundations and constants derived from the culture and values of society.
